Six Stripe Spectrum (2010, 10mins, 16:9 anamorphic, colour, stereo)

In this piece I've put together various elements of previous works: the stripes from Colour Bars; the tone/colour relationship that I've used in New Ratio and Iris Out;  and the widescreen aspect ratio. There is a summative quality to the piece then, but the combination also adds up to something new: the tones associated with each stripe pan across the stereo spectrum in tandem with the colour bars, as they track back and forth; the layers of stripes build up to such an extent that the screen surface whites out; and with this the sound becomes a wall of distortion.
